Will/Mike, do you know if Hollister can give us the key for that wknd for the new park; I have someething in mind related to this Rally/NCLR.

I also extended an offer to help Scott Brady and his creew from Overland Trainining to see if they need any help w/logistics, local info since Hollister is in our backyard; waiting for his respond.

Saw Stevne's post in Expo suggested Mexxis (catering for the Overland Rally) and working with NCLR - good ideal Steven.

Hopefully more NCLR members can attend. See you there Mike. Anyone else?

I just found out about this and will plan on attending. Did this just get scheduled by them or did I miss an announcement? I am curious why it is just now getting a mention here when several members seem to be aware of it.

Ron, Check your email regarding this event.

It was mentioned a month or so ago on ExPo. I suggested that Scott contact the NCLR for possible assistance with the event. It might be a good way to get our name out there more. I also suggested they contact Mexxi's if they need any catering.

Registered! Couldn't get the coupon code to work though, I was registered and logged in and everything. Still 85 bucks...or is that the price with the coupon code and it would be $100 without it? I couldn't tell...

Didn't sign up for the camping yet, they were talking about 4 nights @18 bucks a night. I need to find out how many nights I actually need and then maybe I'll just camp in one of the other campgrounds (like Sycamore) at Hollister's regular price of 10 bucks a night. Gotta save a few bucks any way I can!

They still haven't said if they're planning to use Area 5 or not...I'm not sure they even know at this point!

Good to hear Dan. And others who can make it - see there.

Dan, the coupon code takes off $15 so instead of paying $85, you'd end up paying only $70.

Still $85 is not bad for this 4 day event/rally, network w/vendors, product demos, and listen other experienced adventurerss.

I only paid for 2 nights of camping (I can use it any of the 4 nights). I am planning show up only for a day on Thursday Sept 23, head back home but planning to camp Friday and Saturday night.

Here's the thread on Expo regarding the upcoming Overland Rally in Hollister Sept 23-26:
http://www.expeditio...ead.php?t=48090

Looks like there will be a roasted pig and beer samples for attendees: http://www.expeditio...6042#post696042

I registered; besides Mike, Dan & myself, anyone else going to this event? Guys who are going, we should coordinate when and what time to meet @ Hollister. Planning to camp Sat night for sure, and enjoy the roasted pig (smile). Would like to attended one of these classes and/or seminars.

And the general agenda (cut/paste from the Overland Rally site):

Event Schedule:

Mountain Bike Ride:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings will start off with an optional mountain bike trail ride to begin around 6:00am! Details will be coordinated and shared on site so just remember to bring your bike if you want to ride.

Training Classes:
Each day classes will begin at 8am and run through 12pm with the most popular classes repeated to accommodate attendance. Classes will include:
- Basic 4WD
- Advanced 4WD
- 4WD Recovery
- Basic Adventure Motorcycle
- Advanced Adventure Motorcycle
- Adventure Motorcycle Recovery
- First Aid
- 4WD Trailer Towing

Seminars:
8am – 12pm
- Planning and Logistics for International Travel
- Load Management and Storage Solutions
- Extended Travel

Additional classes, seminars and presentations may be added.

Trail Rides:
Each morning we will also have at least four different trail-rides to choose from. Rides will depart at 8am and run through lunchtime.
- 4WD Easy
- 4WD Moderate/Difficult
- Adventure Moto Easy
- Adventure Moto Moderate/Difficult
We will use the Hollister Hills SVRA trail rating system to determine difficulty level and we will run as many groups as necessary to accommodate attendance without making the groups too large.

Afternoons will be open to spending time with vendors, exhibitors and sponsors. Look at new products, demonstrations and test drives.

Each night we will have movies, presentations and fireside chats.

Presentations will include:
The Mongol Rally – Scott Brady
Traveling Around the World – Christian Pelletier
A Few More Miles, motorcycle adventure – Ben Slavin
The Dakar Rally – Charlie Rauseo of Rally Pan Am and Rally Management Services

Saturday night we will have a pig roast, beer on tap and an appetizer and cocktail competition to kick off the Expedition Trophy!

Sunday morning we will have the Expedition Trophy competition as well as trail rides and classes for those who do not whish to compete. The Expedition Trophy will run through about 2:00pm with the entire event ending at 4:00pm.

Will do Steven.

Also will give feedback to the Overland organizer that they need to do this again if all goes well.

I am curious if the group area was large enough to hold the event.

Gonna be packed w/190 people registered last count I heard; some day passes; some not camping all 4 days so 190 peak head count.

NCLR had a large turn-out (30-40 trucks I think w/about two people per vehicle) @ one time and don't we filled up the entire Area 5.

Be great to meet the Scott Brady's, Graham, etc....

Steven, I am going to show up for a day Friday, but not camping. The come back Saturday all day, camp, bring my family (want them to see the overland community) and leave Sunday. I paid for Thursday to Sunday. I am was planing to show up Thursday but work is calling me.

If you want to be Ron for Thursday, let me know. Just have to pay for your gas to get down there and use my pass for Thursday.

I'm planning to arrive there Friday, probably for the 8:00-9:00am Check-in, as I plan to stay in the Bay Area Thursday night doing some Rover repair on Thursday.

Ron, again we will be there Sat and try to camp that night. I was thinking of trying to secure a spot up the hill from the normal area we camp. Farther from potty, but if open space, would be better to get kids away (unless they have a kid camp area). The also have to set up displays too.....

Not sure how long we will last, but going to try for an overnighter....

Ok Dan and Mike, will see you there.

I will show up for Thursday shortly, and then come back Friday. I registered for the event and paid two nights camping for me and my wife on Saturday only; will leave Sunday.

Also we may see Jerry and Yubert from the LRRF @ the Overland Rally. Will head toward the back end of Area 5 and look for both of you. But if I see the first open spot by the exit, I will take that. CB 7 for comm (soon Ham).

I may be on CB 4 as that's what the Overland Expo package said they will be using at the event...
