Rooting for you man - Come-on tax return - yield some money back Kevin for a Bajarack.

I am sure the tax cut extension particular being able to deduct mort intest will help. Right.

Good luck with that.

Ron - we might be interested in an LR3 model, but wouldn't be til after tax day if there is any money left :-)

Jen - what was the price quoted on the LR3 rack?

Here is the link (and partial email) Sergio sent me. I like the look of this one better than the one that come on the G4 option from LR.
"Yes we do make a rack for the LR3 and LR4, our site is being updated this weekend, here’s the temporary link to the Land Rover Series racks:

http://www.bajarack....and-rover-temp3
*edited* This link is now dead. Maybe Sergio can send us the pics from this page, when it was up?
BR-LR-LR3-1-0 Land Rover Discovery III (LR3) Standard Rack measurements 92" long x 50" wide x 5" tall (This rack comes as one piece). Finish Zinc primer with black powder coating. All mounting brackets (6) included. Price $750.00 plus shipping."

The cost for the RTT one is not much difference, I'm still a little torn. But the comments about how heavy it is to take on and off the ten sort of sealed it's fate. There's no way I could get that tent on and off by myself and it will be at least 5 or more years before my boys are big enough to help me. I'd love to set up a pully system in the garage, but my garage is like most CA garages, and packed full! No room to park in there!

Thanks for the welcome. I would like the " Non RTT" type. That would be perfect. I can't wait to have this on my Dico. I'm in Kneeland ca. Nearest town to that would be Eureka. sorry for the change in mind on the RTT I just read a article about them and it has really persuade me not to invest in that type of gear, instead I will invest in a new tranny for rig.

thanks for the info Lukas. yeah i'd love it if they'd be open to a slightly different design. i'll resurrect the last emails i sent them and see if they'd be open to something. i just talked with rover racks this morning and unfortunately, for the RRS rack, they're still at the same place they were back in oct.

Thanks Lukas!
Hmmm, those are all good points, thank you for the write up. I certainly would love the fold up and go option, but the COG concerns me. Plus the cost of the RTT, with 2 boys that ruin almost everything I own, I usually look at stuff in two ways 1- is it cheaper to just replace every few years when they ruin it, or is it sturdy enough and easy enough to fix, that I can do it myself? (I keep telling myself, that as they get older, less "accidents" will happen, but other parents of boys start hyperventilating from laughter at this statement, so I'm guessing that's not in my future).

Also, if need be, I can also wait until summer for the rack. I'm looking at one for long term. Right now, my boys and their gear are all small enough to fit in the back where the 3rd row should be. However, my older child is already asking when he can bring his friend or cousins along. If we pack the back with boys, there won't be room for their gear, hence the need for the rack.

Go for the RTT version of the rack. Even if you don't get an RTT, you still have that option anytime you like. With proper lashing (tie down), there really isn't a need for side rails. I am going to replace my current rack with one with no side rails.

Group buy is going well.

Nigel, if you are reading this; call John @ Bajarack today; he has a question for you; also he said leaving the racks in the box will not take up much more space during your pick-up; bring old blankets to help dampen/cover for further protection.
