Chuck, you should contact Ron about this. I thought he sent all of the prizes out.

I don't think the 2012 one went down until last August. We have lots of time;)

so I found these 5 gal water cans, just like the famous Scepter cans but for $25 each from buylci.com search "water can". I got 4 and no tax or shipping was added. total was $99.96. I'll post up my thoughts when they get here but since my $50 metal water can started to rust in the first 3 months at the opening since you are not supposed to store water in them (I know I know, silly really) I wanted to get some for disaster preparedness as well as for the Death Valley trip. They come in OD green and Sand colors. I went with sand since my diesel jerry cans are OD green :)

I have one of these and like it. Seems rugged etc.. I also fab'd up a spigot for it too, (The Tegan valve ;-) works like a charm...

Got the cans. Seem sturdy enough. Incan Stan on them without any deforming. Have pieces of plastic in them from the manufacturing process. I made the mistake of wrench tightening the lid to get the spout to line up. Now can't undo it (used a pipe wrench). There is a wrench you can buy which I will be investigating. Cleaned and tested them. No leaks even upside down. Will have to see how the DV trip treats them.

I like the one that I have, seems as rugged as my Sceptor MFCs.. Given they are designed for/carrying Water... They seem to live up to the recommendation also given to me from this thread.

Chris,

Some of my MFCs have the "wrong" gasket (designed for diesel only) and are TOUGH to get off. I got a cheap band-style wrench from Home Depot and it works like a charm.

http://www.homedepot...ml#.UQWKSHy9KSM (i'm sure there are plenty of others like this)

I also threaded a valve into the smaller pour spout out of 1/2" pvc nipple and a gate valve... I'll look for the photos I sent to to Jason Fuller and post. I used it at the Annual Event and the set-up worked really well...

Hope it helps,

/to

Got mine in the mail last week. Very nice containers and great deal with free shipping.

Can you give more details of your spout Chris?

Would be great to figure out how to leave them on the roof rack and have some pressure from the height to help with flow. hmm...

I just bought a prefab one from a website. Google lci water can spout and its there. He has other options like longer hoses w on/off spouts. For the roof you cold put a quick connect on the spout with a on/off lever at the end of the hose. Would be tough to move from can to can though. Other option is a super siphon. I use that for the gas cans works great. There is a can that has a spout built into it
