really you are going to pass on $2.45 each or $9.80 plus tax and have them this week? kidding, a better deal is always a better deal.

how bout this: make my box and a rear skid plate to help finance all of this ;)

No not passing. I need the lights complete. The link you send was just the covers for red and I have I think 3 sockets with 2-3 ambers. I still need 2 reds and 2 ambers. I'm not in a rush. I do want to finish the trailer to a rolling working platform and getting closer. So Lights will be in need for that.

I let the bearings sit in Simple Green over night and they still looked like they needed more work. Got some brake parts cleaner and painters brush and went all out. I'm getting far.

Got new grease packed in the bearings and two new seals.

This is one hell of an axle.

After doing some more work and getting the wheels ready for mounting. Hint... Newer rover axles don't fit the hubs of old series axles. The series hubs are 1/8 larger. So I took my grinder to it. Fixed the problem and wallah...

I really like the LED lights but I might have to go with these lights and convert them my way. So I'll keep my eye out for it. Thanks Chris.

Those stock lights are reasonable in price but the LEDs are the killers.

So more of what's to come. I need a frame and suspension. I have spares of most things needed. So I'm using a K5 front leaf pack with rust and took a wire wheel to it later.

Oh man this is looking good.

Here on the right next to the axle you will see what will soon be a frame.

So this week the plan is to have the leafs hung and possibly rolling the bed on it. I got the welder out tonight and started building the frame up and called it a night. I'll take more pictures tomorrow. I need time to relax and eat. I really only ate once today. Minds got plans and foods the last thought.

Thanks Nathan. I bet you didn't expect this from your old bed huh? Your right about kids. But I'm working on it with the wife. She's really great about these projects. I really need a house of my own to do this kind of work. And if I have kids well I'll be out of toys for a while. But you know I'm going to pass this trade over. Boy or girl.

Hi guys! Miss me? I got more done and got what I needed out for last week. Been a little busy with other things. But not so much. The rainy weather started but I didn't stop completely.

I got some pictures for you guys now. Welded up frame and some paint, now I am going somewhere good.

Posted Image
Posted Image

The leaf springs are going back and getting mounted for good.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

The wheels got a little treat too.

Posted Image

The day light gets shorter and shorter but I'm still going at it.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

The next day I got a frame mocked up with the axle for mounting points for the leaf springs and shackles.

Here are some more pictures.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

The wheels are dry and done.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Using a step stool as a level and table, I balanced the frame up with it and mounted the bed on the frame.

http://i591.photobuc...zpsc05f2df8.jpg
http://i591.photobuc...zps372cbe3e.jpg

Now my next step is to build up. I need some wood for my base. I cut four pieces 7 x 48 x 3/4 plywood and evenly spaced them about 1inch apart for the floor to fit and drop right on the frame. I used my masking tape as a reference line.

http://i591.photobuc...zpsb598ba54.jpg
http://i591.photobuc...zpsdd44cb34.jpg

I bought some decking screws for this. Wood to metal bits are the best.

http://i591.photobuc...zpsac4a3621.jpg
http://i591.photobuc...zps00e5b8fe.jpg

This fills the gap between the frame and bed. Light weight and strong. Don't worry I have more. I know what water does to unfinished wood over time. Plus it's always replaceable if needed.

http://i591.photobuc...zpsff987dfd.jpg

After I'm done I got to the bed floor and make marks where needed for mounting locations. Get some nice steel taping screws and go to town.

Looks great Pedram!! The campstove/Oven idea is pretty cool, along with the sink idea. Found range/oven combo cheapest at Dale Hardware, believe it or not! Now all you need is a space for a crapper and holding tank, and you have a Hilton!

Started heading to the rear to figure out the bumper design I wanted. I was looking at this approach with some 2x6 steel and possibly putting an angle at the end with a corner fill around the side. I have looked at a few original bumpers and found that most have some step off the bumper. I'm going to add some tubing to the lower half. Maybe 1 3/4 " round and about 10 inch long. Like a "U" shape welded about an inch off the surface. Copy that to both sides and maybe even around the sides. For steps and rock guards.

The green area represents the cut out area. And the drawing I have is for the step/rock guard.

I see why those 2 corner pieces you cut off hung so low, for the bumper.

I think the area you've masked off with tape is too short. The original bumpers start the angle just inside the tail gate.

Maybe something more like this. You'd also have to move the U shaped tube inward a little. Maybe lineup the outside edge of the tube with the edge of the galvanized trim piece?

Maybe I should have you Photoshop the design Brenton. Your circle looks better then my Maglite tracing. I wanted the tube to be big enough for an actual step. And possibly have it all-around the trailer to have access inside hard to reach areas when loaded up. I was thinking of doing a continuous tube around the rear corner for two reasons. One for rocks, and two for a better reach inside. I can always do an inverted step inside the bumper rather then a welded tube.

But thanks for the ideas. I'll look into this more before it's final.
