Sorry I can't remove that image from my head. The red wheels are not spinning.

Did it change to a Classic?

I would not paint the rims red - hahaha!

I only want to paint the hood - what do you think?

Beyond the aesthetics of it, does having the hood blacked out in that area serve a purpose? I've seen it done a lot.

I think before painting I would try the vinyl wrap and see if you really dig the look -- if not it's easily undone. If so, you have more confidence in the end result.

It's to knock down glare, particularly if you are running roof rack lights

'07 LR3 HSE/HD - slightly non-stock

'96 D1 - even more non-stock

And if you really want to go cheap and fast, I hear some guys have had good luck using plasti-dip. Just clean up the hood, mask it off, and spray it on. Don't like it? Peel it off.

Thanks Don. At first I thought maybe it had to do with heat/temperature of the engine, but then black didn't make sense in that regard.

Yeah Dons right. That exactly what happened when I ran those LED light bars on my disco. I had a roof rack with the LED's. It's really hard to see clear out the windshield with the white hood reflecting back in.

Exactly. I am planning to put a light bar up there, so it would be cool to do the hood black. I have some PlastiDip, so maybe I can just spray it and try it! :)

If I like it, I would not paint it, but rather have it vinyl wrapped.

I have a big ole tire in the way but there is definitely glare from the roof lights. This would help.

I suspect if I tossed a tire on an LR3/4 I'd collapse the hood!

Probably as mine is partially collapsed and required a lil motivation (read BFH) to convince it to not kiss the turbo.

Lifting the hood must be a chore on its own. Sorry Chris. My prayers to you. But you're a big guy. You can always remove the tire then do it up and then install some gas struts to assist the hood.

Oh David.... My bother got back to me about the hood. So the entire hood being covered can be cheaper since he won't have to run any lines to cut the excess off. So the entire hood roughly would cost $250. If you want the traced out part like mine without the huge sticker then it will be $300.
