I was talking to AlysonH during MoM re: doing a group buy for a winch bumper for DIIs.

Thinking to get economy of scale, perhaps we can extend the group buy to other LR makes, and other HD parts such
as rear bumper and rock sliders (get at least 10 buyers and shot to get 10-20%+ discount).

Thinking of approaching RTE, Terrafirma, or other manufacturer willing to; could also take the list to Rovers North,
Atlantic British, Lucky8 or other distributors willing to offer us a group discount.

And to add to the savings, the vendor must be willing to shipping all orders into one business address.
(I need to confirm with Colin if his new shop will be ready by the end of May). Let's show Colin our support
and bring him some business - he will be a proud new Independent Auto Repair Shop owner in Walnut Creek.

Anyways, post if you are interested in a group buy for (big ticket item over $300): 1) what product(s) e.g. front winch bumper, rear bumper
and rock sliders include 2) brand or brands you'd be interested in, 3) Land Rover make, 4) location (e.g. Sacramento
to gauge logistics) 5)and timing (when do you need them).

Requirement: group buy is only avail to paid club members, commitment to the group buy, once we arrange it, each participant will call the vendor directly and settle
your bill, and share of shipping. Once all orders are paid and ready for shipping to a business address, we schedule
the pick, install (Colin or group install) and enjoy your upgrade.

Let me start:

Ron CT110
1) Front Winch Bumper
2) Terrafirma although I'd consider a RTE Wideface front winch bumper
3) 04 Discovery II
4) East Bay
5) Flexible with timing - I can get it now or wait till Summer

We did something similar with BajaRack and I saved about $300 from the discount, shipping and group install; even
got our photo on the front page of BajaRack: http://www.bajarack.com/racks

_ _ _

Post notes: after review the responses from this post started on 3/5, here's an updated list (as of 3/6):

1) RTE
- Alyson (DII Front winch wide face and rear bumpers)
- Tyler M (DII gas tank skid plate)
- Chad (RRC 2" Body Lift - maybe a rear bumper)

2) Rovers North
- Ron B (DII Terrafirma Front Winch Bumper)
- Erin (LR4 ARB Front Winch Bumper)
- Erin (LR4 Warn XD9000)
- Mike M (Winch for RRC GDE winch bumper)

I need a gas tank skid. My timing is fairly flexible, but sooner is better! I do need it before Fordyce however.

Tyler,

Did you get the track rod guard installed?  Katrina got her shocks and x-springs back today and the Ashcroft goes in the front next week as soon as I get the time.  Doing my own gas tank skid ... easier on a D1 than a D2.  Not sure if I have time for sliders .... who needs em?

Not quite. That was my plan for Monday. Last week I was dealing with a cooling system repair on one of the Toyotas, and didn't want to take it apart in case we ended up needing an extra vehicle. The other Disco is up in Kelseyville with a blown diff. I can't believe the bleed procedure on that radiator. Ick.

I might try building a gas tank skid, but I need to get my welding up to par first. My first project is going to be a slide for the refrigerator I bought off of Enrique. I'm probably going to buy some angle iron on Tuesday, and get started on that project.

I would highly recommend sliders. I've been able to pull off lines that Dad can't by using my nerfs as pivot points.

2) Warn winch (not sure on model yet)

3) 2012 LR4

4) South Bay

5) Timing Flexible

Also, I could probably make arrangements for our warehouse to be available for a South Bay shipment if majority are closer this way.

Erin, I went to the ARB site (don't look at the price; we hope to get it much less than this); Is this the model # (3432200) ARB Front
Winch Bumper you are interested in?

Also it's suggesting Warm XD9000; is this what you want? http://store.arbusa....200-P22756.aspx

Yes, that's the bumper I want.  I know... it's pricey!  But there are not a lot of options, and I like this more than the tactical 4 x 4 bumper.

The ARB has a more natural form fit than Tactical and plus air bag approved.

And thanks for your offer on the shipping address; we may take your offer if Colin's new shop is not avail yet.

Thanks Allyson; do you want to fit a Warn or Superwinch on yout RTE? You have to specify this at the time of purchase. Either brand, would
you be interested in buying a winch as part of the group buy. 9000lb winch is recommend for DIIs.

RTE sold their last gas tank skid for a D2 a couple of years ago, to me :D  It was bare metal and had been sitting around their shop for about a year or so. Bill (at RTE) said the measurements didn't take into account the bends of the steel, which made the skid about 1/2" too short to contact the mounting point at the back of the tank. Stacking some washers was an option, but in the end an impact gun made sure everything got nice and tight. It was probably one of the fastest mods done to the truck.

Back then it didn't sound like they were planning to start production again because of a lack of interest and that they'd have to do some re-tooling.

Don't be surprise if your RTE gas tank is missing :)

Will check with RTE; I see it listed on their product page: http://www.rte-fab.c...&category_id=31

Excellent Mike!

GDE came with Warm 8000 winch which has a bolt pattern of 10" x 4.5" so any winch which has this pattern should fit.

I see the popular Superwinch LP8500 has this pattern which I think Lil Crawler was selling (not sure it it sold).

Ok folks I am excited to announce that we have the attention of Mark Letorney, owner of Rovers North, and Simon Butcher, Co-President of
RTE-Welding and Fabrication.

Will have two "interest" groups (big ticket items over $300): RTE, and the other is all other big ticket items sold by Rovers North. Like to close the orders by May 30th
(or if no other orders and everyone agrees on earlier date, we can close the orders by May 15th).
Either day, it's pay day :) so far we have the following interest:

1) RTE
- Alyson (DII Front winch wide face and rear bumpers)
- Tyler M (DII gas tank skid plate)

2) Rovers North
- Ron B (DII Terrafirma Front Winch Bumper)
- Erin (LR4 ARB Front Winch Bumper)
- Erin (LR4 Warn XD9000)
- Mike M (Winch for RRC GDE winch bumper)

Anyone else?

I'd like to get as many orders in to get hopefully bigger discount; once we get all the interest in, will get the price quote
on your orders and est shared shipping cost.

I will post prices on our private forum (not here for the public to see) for all the interested parties to review and approve.
Reminder this group buy is only for NCLR members who have paid their dues.

Hey if you can save $200-300, that well covers your $100 NCLR dues.

Again if you are interested in RTE and/or products sold thru Rovers north, post up:
1) What Item e.g. Front Winch Bumper
2) What Brand e.g. Terrafirma
3) Your LR year and make e.g 04 DII
4) Your Location e.g. San Jose
5) Your timing for the purchase e.g. Flexible or ok to purchase as soon as May 30th
