Has anyone ordered any of this lately? I went to order 4 pieces today which was $115 and they wanted almost $80 to ship it?

That's a LOT of money... I ordered about six pieces last year and it was definitely NOT that much.

Curious, would TSC have something similar?  You could just pick it up then at the Galt store.

Hmmm....didn't see it on the TSC website but only did a quick search.  I see it on Amazon for $42 + $14 shipping for a 2'x4' piece.  Perhaps you could contact the seller about bundled shipping cost?  Seems to me once you paid for the physical size of the first piece adding more wouldn't add that much cost.

BTW, I might be interested in joining you to even out the shipping if it comes to it.  I haven't measured the size I'd need for the LR3 but I've thought about adding it over the winter.

Alyson was looking at doing some flooring on her rack, but not sure what she wants to do... maybe you guys can do a group buy and split shipping?  Worth her looking into it at least.

I paid $57 for shipping in May. Other folk list on their website or carry it but net pricing about the same. The notion of group buys come up every year or 2 but I've never seen or heard of them "penciling-out". Great stuff and they seem to know it... Good luck

Nick, I was just about to place an order for 4 pieces. Let me know how many you want exactly and we can split shipping cost.

Wow, they aren't cutting much of a deal on the shipping are they?  I think they're making a killing the more they ship!

I get that a 2'x4' box will cost a few bucks to ship, but just adding more panels to it would only make it slightly thicker.  1 part or 8 parts, the shipping should be nearly the same. since the only thing that will change is the box would get a little heavier and a little thicker.

What am I missing here?

Regardless, I'd be covering an area about 41x56, so I'd need 3 panels I guess.

So, unless I misunderstand, the only benefit of getting over 12 is that the shipping goes down from $12.67 to $10.63 per sheet.

The negative is that we have to coordinate delivery to the individual people.  For $2 per sheet is that worth it?

Regards,

Graeme

I ordered 3 sections maybe a month ago. Yeah they suck on shipping. The material itself is wonderful (strong as decking material, but super easy to cut up/trim), but as a rule I'd order one sheet more than you think you'd need (imagine paying the shipping costs twice...). That way you can cut up the extra into sections. FYI for anyone that has a disco 3 with the baja: the main basket that's about 4'x4' will take two pieces almost exactly. You'll need to trim around the edges some minor indentations for the bars. Otherwise really easy. the front basket will almost fit one sheet itself, but the fit is not as good front to back. I decked the big basket and the two bits at the back where jerry cans fit. I've got a 2'x2' piece left if anyone wanted to swing by and play with the material. Figure I'd use it to repair a broken section or as a floor mat in mud/snow next to the truck. That or swap panels if I end up using the baja jerry can mount that came with my rack.

Bonus is they ship in really useful plastic feed bags. FUN!

With the added bonus that you can put my chicken's on your roof if we're on a long trip .... not sure how to strap them down though ..... maybe that is what the NCLR ratchet strap at the Annual was for ....
