Has anyone tried to put a smaller pulley on the water pump? I was thinking that on my rrc issue of long idling with ac on, that pwrhaps spinning the pump faster may help?

Already did that. And it helped. But in 100 degree heat i cant let it idle indefinitely with the ac on. It does start warming up eventually abd i think its coolant flow not air flow over the radiator

Nick,

My pump travels at the same speed as the rest of the vehicle ....

Bad idea to increase the speed (of rotation).  The problem is not with the pump (and it has a graphite bearing).  The problem lies elsewhere.  I would suggest either fan clutch or timing.  Is the vacuum advance working?  It may not be and has been timed to account for that.

My disco would get hot after idling for a long time with the ac running. New rad, new water pump, lower temp thermostat didn't improve things. I ended up picking up a hayden severe duty fan clutch and that sorted it out. A small ding in fuel economy, but nothing too terrible. I'll see if I cant find the part number for it, i have it written down somewhere..
