I did it so you can do it. Took 10-15 min the first time with the kids "helping" and watching the videos. Second time was literally 5 minutes while the kids played with the other end of the line.

Chris,

Yeah, sad when the kids' splice was better than yours though ....

So true!! What was really awesome is when they took off running with one end while the other went flying out of my hand with the punch still taped to the line.

Bonus difficulty points.

I would still love to do a splicing party as well. I don't know how good I feel about doing it myself.

While almost any reason is a good reason for a Rover Related get together, don't let not trying this on your own be the only reason...

There are tons of really good vids on the inter-webs about splicing in the eyelet (I think Brenton has a pretty thorough posting out there...) but here is one that I found simple and to the point.

Take a look, maybe give it a try and see how you do. Worst case, we take it apart at the splicing party and Chris' 4yr old will re-do it for you  ;-)

Some kids get summer jobs mowing lawns, delivering papers (OK....maybe not in this century but you get the idea), or even with a lemonade stand.

Roxen can offer 12-strand splicing.

Spliced yesterday, spooled today using yard rock to set the tension. Success. I went with a big yellow hook from OKoffroad.com and a modified gusseted thimble.

So that's what people have those big rocks in the yard for.
