So my fridge just went down. it turns on and everything looks fine. you can even hear the the fan turn on. No error lights come on either but the fridge doesn't get cold at all. Im thinking the compressor went out or it leaked R134a. I bought it 4 years ago so its out of warranty. ARB said to ship it to them in Washington but the shipping would be close to $100 I think. I looked online and the compressor is less than $200 so I was thinking about taking it to a local appliance repair shop. Does anyone have any ideas?

Pretty sure they use the same Danfoss compressor most units do so yeah, a local shop should be able to deal with it.

If you can't find anybody I can give you the number for a marine guy I work with in Alameda.  He's not an ARB specialist of course but being in the boat world he's more accustomed to working on unusual stuff.  A typical home appliance store may just turn away anything out of the ordinary like your ARB.

its a secop compressor. thanks Don I may have to give him a call. Like you said it doesn't seem like any local appliance shops want to work on it. It looks very simple too.

Interesting.  I know all the current ARBs use Danfoss, the BD35 or the BD50 in the big boys.  It's by far the most common compressor out there.

You can give Jon a call - Poole Refrigeration 510-918-3050.  Like I said, he's not an ARB guys but as a boat guy he's more accustomed to 'unusual' stuff so he might be willing to take a look.  Even easier since it's portable and you can bring it to him instead of him going to it.

I had a guy just look at it yesterday. He said the compressor is still running (barley) and that there is a leak somewhere. It could be in the compressor but he doesn't know. So I'm just going to send it to ARB and cross my fingers that they take care of me. Now that I'm used to having a fridge its really hard not to have one.
