Hi Folks,

I modeled a bumper this morning (WIP) and it's looking like more time on the band saw than I'd like to spend.

I'm wondering if anyone here happens to own a laser cutter, water jet or CNC plasma cutter?

Thanks!

Funny, I actually just ordered a bunch of new 4" cut-off wheels, flap wheels, and 2" rol-loc grinding discs to replenish my metal working stuff.  Not that I have any specific projects in mind at the moment, but I'll be building some armor for the Classic this winter (I hope).

Mine won't be all fancy 3D modeled though.  I'm more likely to use CAD (Cardboard Aided Design)

Hey, Mike... Are you looking to hire someone or rent bench time of equipment? I have a friend who may have leads to such machines/equipment.

I think Rob Gardner-black (RobG) has a plasma cutter. He also has MIG/TIG welders located near Sacramento. Not sure if he renewed his membership this year.

Thanks for the tips folks!

I got an under the table quote from a laser cutter I use for work and the cost was still pretty steep. I ended up cheaping out and built something out of stuff I had in the garage. It's not the super sweet, faceted, zombie-smashing, brodozer bumper I was hoping for but it'll do. I'll just have to go around the zombies.

Looks good. You have a tubing bender but no plasma cutter? I like how it came out. Be careful or you'll start getting orders.

Looks good - you rarely see tube bumpers on Rovers so it really stands out as unique.

That looks great! I'm starting there same project with 2" tubing as well.  I'd love to see more detailed pics of either the bumper or the garage process.  Great job.  You planning on tubular rear bumper as well?
