Not a rover, but thought you car buffs would enjoy.  My boss had this beauty at the warehouse for a couple of days.  Sadly it will going up for auction in August at the Mechum Auction in Monterey.

1976 Porsche Turbo Carrera (sorry I don't know if it's a 911 or 930)

that should fetch a pretty penny...

i'd be interested to hear what it sells for.

IIRC, the appraisal came in at $150k on the low side and $225k-250k on the high side.  I too am curious what it will actually sell for, so I'll be tuning in to the auction.

It's really amazing what a couple of years will do for classic car values. You could pick these up for close to nothing (relative to now) maybe 5-6 years ago.

One of the biggest regrets of my life was not plowing my life savings at the time into a 993 turbo for $40k.

That's a beauty.  Thanks for the moment of car pornography there!

Are you tempted to take it out for a spin Erin? :) j/k risky $200k proposition

Reminded me of an old movie "Risky Business" although it's not the same Porsche model in the movie (which IMO this Carrera is even way cooler than the one in the movie).

Ron,

That was a 928, and those can be picked up for $6-8K, although Tom Cruise's was sold for over $40K a few years ago (in 2012 I think).

Depending on the mileage?  wrong wheels and paint is poor! $60-80k I say.

Early 930's are desirable but are horrible to drive... 4 speed trans RWD and serious kick in the pants turbo lag.

993 TT's are way nicer!

only slight water damage on the Risky Business 928 huuh? @ least Tom said PORSHA :P

The sorry truth is most older sportscars are pretty poor to drive by today's standards.  Doesn't mean I don't still want a nicely mod'ed step-nose Alfa GTV...

I had a '68 911 for a while.  Looked cool and fast with a later model whale tail and wheels.  Could have been spanked in a drag race by a Honda Odyssey with 3 kids in the back...
