Built this a while back.  Mainly used scrap steel aside from the weldable hinge.  Works great, rattles a bit too much depending on the air pressure in the tank.  Rubberized truck bed liner spray finish.

Anyone have a good way to expand back out crushed jerry cans, besides driving to the mountains?  I had a bit of fuel in one up around 8000 feet and when I got home it was all sucked in, and I can't get it popped back out for the life of me.  Sux.

Looks nice, and a simple way to attache to the stock location.  I would wonder about hanging that much weight on the stock bracket though - keep an eye on it for cracking or bending!

True true... imagine the spare and jerry can sliding down the freeway at 70.... KaBOOM!  A ball of fire in rearview.  Keep driving.... whistling.

LOL....

Reminds me of a friend's old Honda CRX.  He was on a back road and knew there was a crest coming up he could just catch a bit of air if he hit fast enough.  One time he did it and forgot he didn't have the removable sunroof secured.  It lifted and blew off the car.  He saw it spinning through the air in the rearview mirror until it exploded into a million pieces on the road behind him.  He didn't even bother stopping.
