Anyone have a stock WORKING alternator for a 1988 RRC?

I have a wire that has shorted/fried out totally.  Yet, I can't sort out where the wire went.  I know my Tach is dead now, but I also know the alternator is still charging.

I have a new alternator, but it is for Serp Belts...so i need to change pulleys to install, but can anyone tell me where that wire goes?  I'd like to solve that mystery before I tear it out.
