You too!

Now I'm getting more and more inspired to make some progress on my own D90 project. I've been eying that bulkhead sitting out in the driveway and hopefully I'll have a little time tomorrow to tear into it. At least the weather was a little cooler today, hopefully it will be tomorrow as well.

Just wanted to chime in with a quick small update.

Finally had a chance to finish up the exhaust. Decided to Tig a 2.75" Stainless Downpipe meeting a 3" back half (had alot of 3" pipe laying around)

Then got slightly distracted with a trip to Shaver Lake trip a couple weekends ago with Bill and his CT110 and my GF in her newly acquired 4Runner Limited. Our goal was to hit the Brewer lake Trail and camp at the lake. Unfortunately the trail was closed for the season the night before we arrived due to snow.. luckily Bald Mountain is open all year!

[Posted Image

The goal for the trip was to get my GF behind the wheel so she could get acquainted with off road driving and to try out her new toy.. She was lovin every min of the experience (which is good news for me ;) ) The Rig did well also with its highway tires and CDL and Rear Diff Lock.

Eventually we camped off of the feeder road to Bald Mtn Trail. Luckily we found a spot where there was patchy snow. Unfortunatley the temps got down to the 18-20 degree mark on the second night.

Back to business.... Finally!.... More parts back from paint!

I was able to get the Van sides, windshield frame, and roof mounted up this last weekend

Well a lot has happened since my last update. Shortly after I had posted I started working at Tesla Motors which has consumed just about every spare moment that I have. Luckily I have escaped a few times to make the trek down to the shop to attempt some sort of "progress" but I have found it difficult to keep the ball rolling when there are months between visits. With this in mind, Bill and I have just recently decided to pack up shop and move back to San Jose which will allow me to actually make progress after work.

To spare you from the boredom of the details I thought I would just post some pictures from now to completion which will hopefully be soon. I can almost taste it now

I started in Prototype vehicles hand building the first 15 Alpha versions of our new ModelS and now I am in Chassis Engineering working in Vehicle Dynamics where we just finished our first release of a suspension package for start of production.

Meant to type Tesla (smile). Wirelss access, typing, and Martinis don't mix well @ the San Jose Tech Museum After Hours/Happy Hour (double smile). Excellent work by the way. Model S is the fastest selling Tesla yet. Wow - huge progress and leap in technology since GM's EV1 from the 1990s. Would love to test drive one of of these days but they don't let bankers touch them (lol). Keep up the good work.

Model S for Sexy (smile). Way longer range than any other production electric car e.g. Nissan Leaf. And leave it in the dust @ 0-60 in 4.4 seconds w/a car pool sticker (smile).

Eeew...'don't touch that [tool box] There's ..."

Let me know when the new "man Cave" is having it's open house... I'm just up the road and appreciate ALL the nostalgia in that room :-)

I got as far as cleaning it up, cutting out the bad spots and buying the metal to replace it...and that's about it. I figure I need about a day, possibly two to finish it up but the project has just had to get put on the back burner as I have to concentrate more on making money to survive right now...

Few small updates..

The front axle should be done by this weekend, and all that is remaining is EVERYTHING:D

Looking at the calender I noticed that the annual event is in 23 days!

I would love to make it to the annual even this year with my rig and I am going to do just about anything to make sure that this happens. If anyone is interested in supervising with a IPA in your hand in the next few weekends let me know.

If I could get it moving and stopping under its own power with a few working light bulbs I will be ecstatic and taking it!

Well its been a long weekend... I am happy to announce that at 10:45PM tonight I was able to get it started. Fired on the first attempt after purging the injector lines. http://s10.photobuck...nt=IMG_0964.mp4

All that remains is to finish bolting up the fenders, hood, and replacing the "good" steering box that leaks out fluid faster than i can pour it in.
